The two CONCACAF teams that advanced the furthest in the last Copa América will face each other this Tuesday, October 15, when the Panama Senior National Team faces its counterpart from Canada, in a friendly match at the BMO Field, in Toronto, Ont.
The match, scheduled to start at 6:45 pm Panama time, will be the second for those led by coach Thomas Christiansen on this FIFA date.
The Panamanian team has just lost 2-0 to the United States last Saturday, October 12, in a friendly match played at the Q2 Stadium, in Austin, Texas.
The friendly match serves as preparation for both teams as they prepare for their matches in the quarterfinals of the CONCACAF Nations League, to be played in the month of November.
Canada and Panama were the only CONCACAF representatives in the last Copa América 2024 that managed to overcome their respective groups in the initial phase.
The national team managed to advance to the quarterfinals, while the Maple Leaf team reached the semifinals where they lost to Argentina 2-0.
The Panamanian squad will seek to add its first victory as a visitor at BMO Field, in Toronto.
Their two previous visits were for World Cup qualifying matches and ended with defeats.
Panama Mayor fell 1-0 in the qualifiers heading to Brazil 2014 and then 4-1 on the road to Qatar 2022.
The last time both teams met was a year and a half ago in the semifinals of the 2022/2023 CONCACAF Nations League.
The Final Four match held at Allegiant Stadium, in Las Vegas, on June 15, 2023, concluded with a 2-0 victory for the Canadians with goals from Jonathan David in the 25th minute and Alphonso Davies in the 69th minute.

The teams of Panama and Canada have faced each other on 13 occasions in the Senior Men’s category with a record of 2 victories for the Panamanian team, 6 draws and 5 wins for the Canadians.
Both victories for Panamá Mayor were at home at the Rommel Fernández Gutiérrez Stadium in World Cup qualifiers.
The first on the way to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil when they achieved a 2-0 victory with goals from Rolando Blackburn and Blas Pérez, on September 11, 2012.
Then for the past qualifiers towards the 2022 World Cup in Qatar with a 1-0 victory with a goal from Gabriel Torres, on March 30, 2022.
