On July 25, it is recalled, the Eighth National Preparatory Investigation Court, headed by Judge Raúl Justiniano Romero, issued 36 months of preventive detention against José Luis Castillo Alva, Miguel Ángel Girao Isidro and Giancarlo Valer Enciso, linked to the former prosecutor. of the Patricia Benavides Nation, and detained in Operation Valkiria XI.
On that occasion, the Judiciary also ordered that said court order restrictive measures and biometric control every 15 days for the investigated Jorge Luis Palomino Quesada.
THE BENAVIDES CASE
On December 7, 2023, Patricia Benavides was suspended from office for six months by the National Board of Justice (JNJ).
And, on May 22, the JNJ decided to remove her from office.
A month earlier, on April 23, the Special Team of Prosecutors against Power Corruption (Eficcop) and Diviac agents arrested, as part of the Valkiria XI operation, seven people accused of being part of a corruption network that Patricia Benavides would presumably direct.
The Public Ministry had requested 36 months of preventive detention for those investigated for the alleged commission of the crimes of passive bribery, criminal organization and others.
After that, those investigated filed a habeas corpus, which was declared founded in part by the Second Constitutional Chamber of the Superior Court of Justice of Lima, which ordered the Eighth National Preparatory Investigation Court to define, within a period of 48 hours , the legal situation of Giancarlo Valer Enciso, Jorge Luis Palomino Quesada, Miguel Ángel Girao Isidro, José Luis Castillo Alva and Jorge Jhonatan Rodríguez Menacho.
At the hearing, the PJ ordered the detention of the three investigated for 36 months.
