Samaná – The province of Samaná northeast of Dominican Republichas a population of 114,468 inhabitants, of which 57,223 are women and 57,245 are men, this according to the X National Population and Housing Census of 2022.
The information was offered by the National Statistics Office (ONE), in coordination with the Government of the province of Samaná, who presented the results of the 10th Census in an event that took place in the auditorium of the Provincial Government.
The main objective of the activity was to disseminate the findings of the statistical survey of this community, vital information for local development.

The governor of Samaná, Teodora Mullix Geraldino, welcomed the attendees, expressing her gratitude to the ONE for the presentation of this data. He highlighted that this information is a fundamental pillar for planning and the social and economic development of the local population.
For her part, Miosotis Rivas Peña, general director of the ONE, highlighted the relevance of the census as a vital tool for decision-making in public policies. Rivas Peña stressed the collaboration of the population and the commitment of the ONE to guarantee that the data collected is used effectively for the benefit of the community.
Meanwhile, Carlos Sosa, in charge of the Census Department, presented in detail the results of the census in the province, pointing out significant aspects about the demographic indicators, housing and socioeconomic conditions of the inhabitants of Samaná.
The event also featured the participation of the Vice Minister of Culture and Equality of the Ministry of Women, Amada Manzueta; the mayor of the municipality, Nelson Núñez; and Dr. Demetrio Vicente, representative of the Red Cross and health advisor of the province.
Likewise, the mayor of the Municipal District of Arroyo Barril, Luis Felipe Fermín, attended; the mayor of the Municipal District of Las Galeras, Ana Johaida Reyes Bello de Rijo; and the vice mayor of the Municipal District of Sánchez, Mariel Alt. Rodríguez. A representative of Senator Pedro Catrain was also present, along with other authorities and prominent members of local civil society.
