As of Monday afternoon, 19 state schools were without power in the capital of São Paulo, according to information from the State Department of Education. Four units hold classes remotely, and 15 operate in person with natural light.
Units without electricity have contacted the responsible concessionaire and are awaiting network maintenance. Perishable foods from impacted schools are preserved, according to the secretariat.
The department reported that, across the state, 65 school units were affected by the rains, and that it is working to recover them. Eight of these schools have classes suspended due to the problems, one of which is in the capital.
The Municipal Department of Education of the capital of São Paulo informed that, due to Teacher’s Day, this Tuesday (15), most of the units affected by the rains had already planned an amendment to the school holiday and that service in the units will not be affected. . “As of 11am this Monday (14), 24 units have had their power restored and 48 units report problems resulting from heavy rains”, informed the ministry.
