The constitution of the Belgium Chapter of the International was held at the headquarters of the Venezuelan Mission to the European Union and the country’s Embassy in Belgium. Anti-fascistwith the participation of more than 20 solidarity and progressive organizations.
According to a press release of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, among the participants in the event are the ambassador of Nicaragua, César Castañeda, and representatives of the diplomatic missions of Cuba and Bolivia.
The head of the Venezuelan Mission to the EU, Ambassador Jorge Valero, explained during the activity that fascism constitutes a serious threat to world peace and undermines the foundations of civilization.
Furthermore, he asserted that Venezuela is at the forefront of the fight against fascism, which is why the head of state, Nicolás Maduro, convened the World Congress against Fascism, Neofascism and Similar Expressions on September 10 and 11, in which more than 1,200 delegates from 95 countries participated.
Fascism resurfaces in Europe
Valero warned that fascism is resurgent with force in Europe and in the world in order to liquidate the progressive conquests that have been achieved by the people who have fought for freedom, democracy and sovereignty.
He also made reference to the use of digital technologies as part of an unconventional war, through large global social media corporations, which seek to guarantee the continuity of capitalism and imperialism.
Likewise, he highlighted that the member states of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-People’s Trade Treaty (Alba-TCP) lead the fight in the Latin American and Caribbean region with international projections, stating that for this reason Venezuela has faced everything type of imperialist and fascist aggressions.
In turn, the chargé d’affaires of the embassy in Belgium, Marcos García, urged the promotion of initiatives in that country with the aim of reinvigorating that chapter of the Anti-Fascist International.
Members of the Association of Refugees of Latin America and the Caribbean in Belgium (Arlac), Front des Meres (Front of Mothers), the Trade Union Confederation of Workers’ Commissions, among others, who were present at the World Congress, participated in the meeting. against Fascism, held in Caracas.
Attendees highlighted the fight carried out by the Venezuelan Government and people against fascism, imperialism, neocolonialism and Zionism; In addition, they proposed initiatives to strengthen the fight against fascism in that European country and that will be included in a work plan that will be executed.
