Brasília gained green and yellow lighting this Sunday (13), at iconic points in the city, in reference to the Brazilian team, which returns to play in the capital after a five-year hiatus. Next Tuesday (15), the Mané Garricha Stadium will host the clash between Brazil and Peru, at 9:45 pm (Brasília time), for the 10th round of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers.
In addition to Mané Garricha himself displaying green and yellow at dusk, the Canarian lighting also took over the Palácio do Buriti – seat of the executive power of the Federal District -, the National Museum of the Republic and the Brasília TV Tower, the second tallest of the country with 230 meters.
The last time the Brazilian team played in the country’s capital was in the friendly against Qatar, in June 2019, in which Brazil won 2-0.
Last training session at Bezerrão Stadium
Coach Dorival Júnior led the team’s last tactical training session this Sunday (13) at Bezerrrão, located in the Gama neighborhood, in the Federal District. The activities were closed to the presence of the press.
Before training, striker Luiz Henrique, who scored the winning goal against the Chileans (2-1) last Thursday (10), recalled the decisive moment in Santiago.
“The emotion was very great. It was my first goal with the Brazilian national team shirt. When I scored the goal there, I didn’t know how to celebrate. I was very happy with my team. Everyone came to celebrate”, said the 23-year-old player, in great form at Botafogo. “I hope it’s the first of many goals that will come with the Brazilian team’s shirt.” concluded.
With the away victory against Chile, Brazil rose from seventh to fourth place in the leaderboard, 11 rounds before the end of the Qualifiers. Only the top six finishers secure a direct place in the 2026 World Cup, with venues in Canada, the United States and Mexico. The seventh placed team will have to go through a repechage to secure their spot.
Solidarity ticket
The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) reserved around 12 thousand tickets – around 18% of Mané Garricha’s capacity – for the sale of solidarity tickets for the value of R$ 120. Their sale is limited to two tickets per CPF and donation two kilos of non-perishable food, per person, at the entrance to the stadium. The entity aims to collect 24 tons of supplies that will be sent to charities.
