The Bolivian soccer team, emboldened by its three consecutive victories in the South American Qualifiers, landed this Saturday night in Buenos Aires, home of the match that will be played on Tuesday at the Monumental stadium against Argentina on matchday 10. The group is motivated and knows that the main objective is to score points against the current world champion.
The day for the Green team began early, with training at the Rafael Mendoza Castellón stadium in Achumani, where technical director Óscar Villegas ordered intense work in small spaces. In practice there were two absentees: Héctor Cuéllar and Jeyson Chura; the first was dismissed by expulsion, while the second left the concentration on Friday after suffering a sprained ankle.
For his part, Miguel Terceros, scorer of the goal against Colombia, did participate in the training, but did a different job because he is recovering from a muscle overload suffered in the match against the coffee growers. The team’s medical team assured that his presence is guaranteed to face Argentina.
Once the training was completed, the delegation moved to Santa Cruz for a stopover and to take a charter flight to Buenos Aires. The atmosphere at the airport and during the flight was one of happiness and tranquility; The players were happy about the current situation the team is going through.
Luis Haquin, captain of the team, spoke exclusively with El Deber Sports and assured that the team is motivated and eager to continue on the path to victory. “We know we are on the right track; The group is motivated, there is a lot of optimism and we want to continue growing. We have taken important steps and no one takes away our hope of reaching the World Cup. We know it depends on us; It is in our hands. It is not an easy game, but we trust in our potential.”
One of the novelties on the trip was Carlos Lampe, who will accompany the team to Argentina to support his teammates. The goalkeeper, who was injured against Chile in Santiago, is considered a key piece in La Verde, since his experience and leadership are valuable for the youngest players.
“We are going to accompany the team; It is important to be part of the selection. Positive results have been achieved and we are on the right track. Despite not being able to add on the field, I know that I can contribute in another way. The coach asked me to be here, to accompany the group; Obviously I accepted,” said Lampe, one of the team captains.
La Verde landed in Buenos Aires around 7:30 p.m. and immediately settled into his concentration hotel to rest and recover from the flight.
On Sunday, the team is scheduled to train at 4:00 p.m. at Casa Amarilla, a complex belonging to Boca Juniors. On Monday the work will be repeated at the same place and time. During these days, Villegas will focus more on tactics and will finish lining up his starting eleven for Tuesday.
The match against the Albiceleste is scheduled for 8:00 PM at the Más Monumental stadium of Club Atlético River Plate.
