The Minister of the Interior and Justice, Diosdado Cabello, urged Spain this Saturday, October 12, to apologize for the “genocide” committed in the 15th century, when they arrived in America and began the process of Conquest against the aboriginal ethnic groups that lived here.
Cabello, who led commemorative events at the National Pantheon for the so-called Day of Indigenous Resistance – because the symbolic remains of the Guaicaipuro and Apacuana chiefs were transferred there – highlighted that in Spain there is a campaign in which what happened more of 500 years with indigenous peoples.
«The so-called Kingdom of Spain should ask for forgiveness every day, (…) today there is a campaign in the streets of Madrid claiming the abuse, the crime, the looting, the genocide against the people of America. It is imperialist arrogance, it is imperialist evil, the arrogance that guides them. “We, with our humility, throw them out of here,” he said.
He criticized that it is said that this date is a “discovery”, since for him it was not like that because the indigenous people “did not need to be discovered by anyone” and that the Spanish came to American lands to “end a people that lived in peace, in harmony, in community.

«532 years later, we vindicate the bravery of the indigenous peoples, not only of Venezuela, but of America. “Just as we kicked them out, so we will kick them out of trying anything against our country, (…) let the world know that, no matter what happens, we will win,” he added.
The event was also attended by the Comptroller General, Jhosnel Peraza Machado: the Minister of Tourism, Leticia Gómez; the Minister of Sports, Arnaldo Sánchez; the Minister of Youth, Grecia Colmenares; M/G Dilio Rodríguez Díaz, commander of ZODI Capital No. 81, together with the Minister of the Penitentiary Service, Julio García Zerpa.
This Saturday, the ruling party also organized a mobilization of indigenous peoples in Caracas from Chacaíto to Plaza Venezuela – specifically to Quebrada Honda where three statues of indigenous chiefs are currently erected in the place where the statue of Columbus once stood – to commemorate the Day of the Indigenous Resistance.
During the mobilization, Diosdado Cabello stressed that from what is now Venezuela it was possible to fight with the most powerful empire of that time and that today they do the same against the “most powerful that exists”, while he accused that in Spain there are political groups that They are similar to what is happening in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon, emphasizing that they are the ones who carried out actions against America 500 years ago.
For his part, the president of the 2020 National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, pointed out that Spain is currently not able to “offer forgiveness” because “they insist on their desire to conquer.” He stressed that in Venezuela “we are respectful of the people of the world, but we will not tolerate any form of interference against our customs, our laws, our traditions and our revolution (…) and anyone who dares to attempt any interventionist attitude or position In Venezuela, you will receive the strength of the people in the street.
