Contract awarded for maintenance of critical points in the Central Mountain Range

The National Institute of Roads (Invías) awarded the Unión Temporal Vías Calarcá-Cajamarca the contract for the operation, comprehensive maintenance and care of critical sites in the Cruce de la Cordillera Central corridor for $221,297 million.

The contract contemplates the operation and maintenance of the tunnels and open-air road, as well as the attention to critical sites in the Calarcá-Túnel de La Línea-Cajamarca corridor, and the open-air road in the Cajamarca-Alto corridor of the Línea-Calarcá, and will have an execution period between November 2024 and July 31, 2026.

“The awarding of the contract for the care of the Cruce de la Cordillera Central project is an important milestone because it allows us to guarantee continuity in operation, road safety and the provision of user care services in this corridor that connects the center with the western part of the country benefiting more than 10 million people”, highlighted Juan Carlos Montenegro Arjona, General Director of Invías.

The operation and maintenance of road corridors benefits the inhabitants of the departments of Valle del Cauca, Quindío, Tolima and Cundinamarca, as well as Bogotá. The Vías Calarcá-Cajamarca Temporary Union is made up of the companies Ingeniería y Vías SAS BIC, with a 35% stake; Siglo XXI SAS Road Megaproject, with 35%; and Engineering of Colombia, Ingdecol SAS, with 30%.

The selected contractor must carry out the operation of the corridor and maintenance of the civil infrastructure and electromechanical equipment – ​​EEM, attention to users, emergencies, unstable points and critical sites, the construction of a 250-meter bridge (Perales 2), in successive cantilevers, which is made up of three (3) spans, which will improve mobility, increase road safety and reduce travel times.
