Diosdado Cabello, first vice president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), called on the Venezuelan people to gather this Saturday, October 12, to remember the beginning of the stage of resistance waged by the native tribes against Spanish colonization.
For his part, the Minister of Popular Power for Communication and Information, Freddy Ñáñez, pointed out that while in the streets of Madrid, Spain, posters are displayed before the commemoration of October 12, which express “Neither genocidal nor slavers. They were heroes and saints”, in Venezuela the day of indigenous resistance is commemorated.
Ñáñez criticized the position of conservative sectors in Spain that defend the so-called Hispanic Heritage Day,” and said that their criteria “border on absurdity in the face of history that left written memory of what really happened on our continent with the arrival of the Spanish.” .
Meanwhile, Minister Cabello said that “on Saturday we will respond to the king of Spain, we are going to march for the indigenous resistance and our values, not theirs. “Let’s march.” He added that “the Spanish committed genocide with the murder of pure people.”
The president of the republic, Nicolás Maduro, has declared that this date is not a celebration, on the contrary, “for us it is the sign of resistance, of life over death, of freedom over slavery and against the monarchy.” .
