The president of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, responded to the statements of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Spain, José Manuel Albares, in which he asked for the respect of the Venezuelan authorities to the Spanish institutions, after those instances were constantly offended to the different powers of the Venezuelan State.
“The institutions of the countries must be respected (…) he (Albares) must begin by requesting respect from that rude Congress of the Kingdom of Spain that assumed functions that only correspond by Constitution to the National Electoral Council and the Supreme Court of Justice,” he declared. the head of the Venezuelan Legislature.
Albares demanded this Wednesday that Venezuela respect Spanish institutions, when asked about the agreement approved by the Venezuelan National Assembly to urge Spain to abolish the monarchy.
The Venezuelan Parliament approved a political agreement in which it urges the Government of Spain to abolish the monarchy, considering it an institution linked to corruption and an expression of the extreme right.
“Mr. Albares, chancellor of Spain, as it is closest to him, begins by asking Congress and the Spanish courts for respect,” he added.
He stressed that the Congress of Spain cannot get involved in matters that only concern us Venezuelans, which is why he rejected the request for respect made by the Spanish chancellor.
He ended by quoting a fragment of the poem Florentino and the Devil by Alberto Arvelo Torrealba: “I am like the thorn that blooms in the savanna, I give aroma to whoever passes by and thorn to whoever shakes me.” “Don’t shake us, Mr. Albares,” the parliamentarian concluded.
