Talavera ends his 20-year career; says goodbye to professional football

The goalkeeper Alfredo Talavera ended on Friday career of more than 20 years in which he was part of the mexican team who participated in the 2014, 2018 and 2022 World Cups; and the 2016 Olympic Games.

The 42-year-old former goalkeeper played with the clubs Guadalajara, Tigres UANL, Toluca, Pumas UNAM and Bravos de Ciudad Juárez.

“I thank football for all those unforgettable moments of learning and growth that formed who I am to this day. Also, the time has come to thank that Tala as a child, who never gave up and who today after a long time can confirm that dreams with work, love and discipline do come true,” Talavera published on the social network Instagram.

The goalkeeper who began his career in 2003 with the “Chivas” of Guadalajara, where he won the title of the 2006 Apertura tournament, was also champion with the “Diablos Rojos” of Toluca in the 2010 Bicentenario tournament.

With the Mexican national team, where he played 40 games, won the Gold Cup in 2011.

“Thank you to everyone who was and continues to be a part of my life. The best is always yet to come and I am ready to receive it,” Talavera added.
