Interpol arrests Bolivian woman who had an international arrest warrant for drug trafficking

The Santa Cruz Interpol police managed to apprehend a Bolivian woman with international arrest warrant for having trafficked controlled substances in the Federative Republic of Brazil, in 2019.

Marco Antonio Enrique Limón, departmental director of Interpol, reported that the woman was identified as Kathia Mejía Banegas, who was apprehended in a home in the northern area from the capital of Santa Cruz.

Mejía is subject to a Red Notice from Interpol Brazil, where she is required by justice, because has a preventive detention order for extradition purposes.

“The detainee will be transferred to the Palmasola prison, where she will remain detained while his extradition to Brazil is being managed“explained the police chief.

The Bolivian woman has been wanted since 2019 by the justice of the neighboring country, since she was accused of trafficking controlled substances from the border with Bolivia.
