Brazil secured, this Friday (11), its first medal at the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam (United Arab Emirates) in judo. The achievement was achieved by Shirlen Nascimento, a bronze in lightweight (57 kilos).

The 24-year-old athlete, who plays for Minas Tênis Clube, secured the medal after overcoming fellow Brazilian Sarah Souza after achieving a waza-ari and manage the dispute until the final minutes.
Three more Brazilians will take action at the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam next Saturday (12): Gabriella Mantena (63 kilos), Ellen Froner (70 kilos) and Julio Koda (73 kilos).
