This Friday, the Government of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) delivered humanitarian aid to Bolivia to families who were affected by the fires that have already consumed more than 10 million hectares throughout the country.

It was the UAE ambassador to the Republic of Peru and concurrent in Bolivia, Ibrahim Salem Al Alawi, who delivered the donation to the Chancellor Celinda Sosa and the Vice Minister of Defense Civilian, Juan Carlos Calvimontes, after visiting the National Monitoring Center that operates in Santa Cruz.

Sosa thanked the UAE Government for its solidarity, which It adds to that provided by different countries since Bolivia declared a national emergency at the beginning of September and later a national disaster due to the magnitude of the forest fires.

All humanitarian aid will be allocated to the “families that have been affected by the fires in Bolivia, especially in Santa Cruz”, assured the chancellor.

He noted that they have fought “the fires more than 130 days. We had hope and believed that we were going to be able to do it alone, but the fire has been stronger than the will and effort that the national government has put here.”

“Bolivia cannot experience events of this nature again and in that sense we have agreed with the representative of the embassy of the United Arab Emirates to work on a prevention and training center. But also The logistics part is very important. We have had to rent planes from Canada and I think we have to prepare,” Sosa added.
