The head of Parliament assured that “this is not the time to look for culprits” given the overflow of citizen insecurity. In that sense, he indicated that “the entire system” must be reviewed.
“We all have to be self-critical. There is a justice system, prosecutors who investigate, police who prosecute crime, judges who sanction, and an Inpe that administers prisons,” he said.
Likewise, when asked about the request of transporters who demand that the organized crime rule be repealed, the parliamentarian indicated that the transporters’ claims have been heard. However, he indicated that the modification of the rule will be debated, but not its repeal.
“From Congress we do not have a vocation for confrontation. (…) Here it is about seeking collaboration between the powers,” he said.
The Plenary Session of Congress will meet at 2:00 pm in the midst of a severe citizen security crisis and a 72-hour strike by transporters.
