Eduardo Lust confirms support for Álvaro Delgado in an eventual runoff with Yamandú Orsi

Lust, who met with Delgado after receiving an invitation from the Secretary of the Presidency, stated that his party will lean towards Delgado’s candidacy in an eventual second round.

“I received a call from Dr. Álvaro Delgado, who invited me as a candidate for the presidency, he from the National Party, in our case the Constitutional Party, and well we were talking about political issues, he told me in a possible runoff that he is going to be clearly the coalition candidate in that runoff,” Lust said at a press conference.

The leader of the Constitutional Environmentalist Party also stressed that his party, which is very close to obtaining a seat in the Chamber of Deputies, “will give support to the Republican coalition from the legislative point of view” and will advise a vote for Delgado in November. He clarified that, although his party shares philosophical coincidences with the coalition, they have not agreed to be part of the executive branch.

Lust explained that, although they do not fully coincide with the principles of the parties that make up the coalition, they recognize coincidences on key issues such as “freedom and other philosophical issues.” “We are going to accompany him in the runoff,” he concluded.
