Deputies approved a first package of 20 commission presidencies, of which Morena, as the majority bench, reserved the most relevant ones: Finance, Budget, Constitutional Points, Justice, Jurisdictional and Energy.
The PVEM gave its ally the Supervision of the Superior Audit, which is usually in charge of the opposition, since it is in charge of reviewing the exercise of public spending. The president of that legislative body is Octavio Herrera Borunda, son of the former governor of Veracruz Fidel Herrera Beltrán. Pedro Vázquez González (PT) was appointed to head the Foreign Relations Department, which his bench retains.
In yesterday’s session, the agreement of the Political Coordination Board to assign 20 of the 51 commissions was announced, according to the weight of each bench.
Those of Finance and Budget will be chaired by deputies from Morena, with Merilyn Gómez and Carlos Ulloa Pérez, respectively, and Leonel Godoy Rangel heads that of Constitutional Points.
The Jurisdictional Commission – among its members is the Investigative Section, in charge of resolving violations – will be headed by Hugo Eric Flores Cervantes, former leader of the defunct Social Encounter Party; Now he is in Morena.
Likewise, Justice will be chaired by Julio César Moreno Rivera (Morena), who in the previous legislature could not preside over Constitutional Points, due to the objection of his colleagues, who recalled his positions against former president Andrés Manuel López Obrador and President Claudia Sheinbaum, when she was head of the capital’s government.
The Southern Border Affairs will be led by Tey Mollinedo, former mayor of Teapa, Tabasco; Immigration Affairs, by Marcela Guerra (PRI); Wellbeing, Ana Karina Rojo, (PT); National Defense, retired general Luis Arturo Oliver (Morena); Navy, Admiral Humberto Coss, and Sports, racquetball player Paola Longoria (MC). In Human Rights there will be Yoloczin Domínguez (Morena); Rural Development and Conservation, Leticia Barrera (PRI); Economy, Trade and Competitiveness, Miguel Ángel Salim (PAN); Gender Equality, Anaís Burgos (Morena), and Energy, Rocío Abreu, who was close to Alejandro Moreno and is now active in Morena.
