The dictator Daniel Ortega, through his political operator who serves as Minister of Foreign Affairs, Valdrack Jaentschke, proposed a new shortlist to occupy the position of Secretary General of the Central American Integration System (SICA), which will generate opposition and controversy among the human rights and opposition organizations, since these are three women political operators loyal to the dictator and who have been part of the repressive mechanism against the Nicaraguan population, among them are two identified as perpetrators of “crimes against humanity.”
The General Secretariat of SICA has been headless since last year, when the Ortega-Murillo dictatorship tried to impose Jaentschke Whitaker, one of its most loyal political operators in the foreign service, in that regional position, and who has been identified as a spy for the repressive apparatus in Costa Rica to carry out actions against exiled opponents, but it was rejected, thanks to the lobbying of human rights and opposition organizations.
This time, with Jaentschke as chancellor, the Nicaraguan dictatorship has proposed three women, all committed to the repression against the people, the three sanctioned by the United States and two of them identified as perpetrators of crimes against humanity by United Nations experts. United.
The new candidates, with their hands stained with blood
Sonia Castro González is a former Minister of Health and currently serves as presidential advisor for “Health Affairs.” She was one of the first female officials of the dictatorship to be sanctioned by the United States Government, for being directly committed to human rights violations.
Castro was Minister of Health in 2018, when social protests broke out among the population demanding freedom and democracy. Following the dictators’ order to shoot to kill protesters, Castro ordered hospitals to close for those injured in the marches and his order caused deaths of people who with timely medical attention could have survived.

Her direct participation in the repression and violations of the human rights of Nicaraguans is so well known that the United Nations Human Rights Expert Group included her on the list of “perpetrators of crimes against humanity” along with dictators. Ortega and Murillo.
Sandinista deputy on the Engel list, for being corrupt
Ortega’s third candidate to manage the General Secretariat of the regional organization is the Ortega representative Arling Patricia Alonso Gómez, on the list sent by the regime’s chancellery to the organization, she appears as candidate number one.
Ortega’s candidate is a political activist and agitator of the dictatorship in Chinandega, and for the last 12 years she has been a deputy in the National Assembly.

For being part of the mechanism of corruption and repression of the dictatorship, and for being part of the Legislative Branch that has approved the laws to repress the public liberties of Nicaraguans, the Ortega representative Alonso Gómez has been included by the US Government. on the “Engel List” which includes the most corrupt and undemocratic characters in the region, since July 19, 2023.
The dictatorship, in its official communication to SICA, signed by Jaentschke, says that the new shortlist is in compliance with the process of “appointing the new Secretary General”, in accordance with the Tegucigalpa Protocol.
