Deputy Aray: they will never give us mirrors of lies again

Regarding the 532 years of October 12, 1492, when the Day of Indigenous Resistance is commemorated, deputy Kariela Aray, representative of the indigenous communities within parliament, expressed during the ordinary session held this Thursday, that the time of the indigenous peoples has arrived and they will never again allow boys and girls to be given “mirrors of lies, of disunity, of selfishness, of spiritual blindness, of fascism, enough of the mirrors!”, he expressed.

This is what the representative exclaimed, in order to present the Draft Agreement through which the National Assembly approved to commemorate and claim October 12 of each year as the Day of Indigenous Resistance throughout the national territory, “with the purpose of advance together with indigenous peoples and communities, in the strategic line of comprehensive independence and decolonization, promoting enrichment and learning in the face of indigenous organizational norms to contribute to the consolidation of the great Homeland.”

The second approach of the parliamentarian consists of urging the plenary session to “support and vindicate Americanist self-affirmation for unity and cultural diversity, to strengthen the aboriginal peoples with their contribution as a people, in the spirit of the dialogue of civilization, peace and justice.”

The parliamentarian indicated that the indigenous peoples from Guayana Esequiba to Zulia will defend sovereignty.

“Enough of the mirrors, the wealth of our country is our sons and daughters. Therefore, brothers and sisters, original resistance, resistance to the claims of the historical enemy of our country, original offensive, to achieve victory, so that the essence of being Venezuelans, free, sovereign and independent, does not die. Our jungle, our islands, our mountains, our seas, our wealth belong to Venezuelans,” he emphasized.

The representative of the Warao ethnic group also stressed during her speech that the colonizers will never again be able to believe that they are owners of the Venezuelans and that the role of indigenous peoples is the construction of a country.

“It is adding and adding, in social organization, in communal economy, in formation and reconstruction of our own history,” he expressed.

He warned that it is a duty to continue raising our voices to combat the interventionist and neocolonial actions carried out by the government of the United States and the European Union, through the imposition of illegal unilateral coercive measures, “which constitute crimes against humanity, in “detriment of the human rights of indigenous peoples, who have been the most vulnerable population throughout our history.”
