The former president is willing to do anything to mobilize his wealthiest supporters. A put on sale expensive watches partly made in Switzerland. RFI contacted one of the manufacturers of the Trump Watches.
In the words of Donald Trump, “we all love gold and diamonds.” For lovers of ostentatious luxury, the former president markets a watch brand, whose “Trump Tourbillon” collection is made up of 200 grams of 18 carat gold and 122 diamonds.
In the box, those who purchase it can find a personalized dedication from Trump. The clock mechanism is made by Olivier Moiry, a watchmaker from the Swiss town of La Chaux-de-Fonds.
In early 2024, a broker placed an order for watch parts. At first he did not explain who they were intended for.
“Then the issue of personalization arose. They told us that it was time to record ‘Trump’ on the clock. There they confirmed to us that it was for the president,” Moiry tells RFI.

The watchmaker did not care if the watch had “Trump” or “Harris” engraved on it because he pays little attention to American politics. The United States did not ask for additional parts again.
«The idea was to make a series limited to 100 copies. If he won, he would become the 47th president of the United States, so a different series of 47 copies is planned,” says Moiry.
Each Trump Tourbillon watch costs $100,000. It is four times more than what it costs to manufacture it.
According to the financial times, The profit margin with these watches would be 75%. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Parts of Trump Watches come from China.
Large luxury brands generally apply a maximum profit percentage of 20% to 50%. So time is literally money.
