Butchers say that the price per kilo hook continues at Bs 28

The butcher sector in Santa Cruz reported that the price per kilo of beef offered by slaughterhouses continues at 28 bolivianos, which makes it impossible for cost leveling in the markets to be carried out.

“After Monday’s agreement (with the Government) we thought that on Tuesday or Wednesday (prices would be leveled), but the reality is that We are bordering on 28 bolivianos (per kilo hook)”, reported Gonzalo Serrudo, executive of the Santa Cruz Meat Workers (Fedecarcruz).

The leader said that, with the prices that the slaughterhouses have, “instead of controlling and regulating, they have skyrocketed,” which would require that a kilo of prime meat be sold for between 45 and 50 bolivianos, and a kilo of second-hand meat at 36 bolivianos, for example.

The agreement between the Government and the butchers, signed last Monday, establishes in one of its points that The reference price of a kilo hook can fluctuate between 22 and 24.50 bolivianos.

The agreement also committed to the prompt promulgation of the fight against reverse smuggling at borders; approval of the regulations for livestock auction centers for immediate consumption; manage the increase in live cattle destined for auction centers; and increase the fine from 70 bolivianos for cattle without a movement guide to 2,000 bolivianos.
