The correction that will be made to the reform of the Judiciary does not invalidate it or affect the election of judges, ministers and magistrates, assured President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo.
In yesterday’s morning conference, the head of the Executive Branch pointed out that this is a case in which the times do not agree, in one situation or another, but it was not previously reviewed when it was sent and, well, that part needs to be corrected
.
In the amendment that came into force on September 16, Morena and its allies defined in article 94, third paragraph, that the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation It will be made up of nine members, ministers, and will function fully. Its presidency will be renewed every two years on a rotating basis depending on the number of votes that each candidate obtains in the respective election, with the presidency corresponding to those who obtain the highest vote.
.
However, constitutional article 97, sixth paragraph, was not included in the judicial reform and establishes that Every four years, the plenary session will elect from among its members the president of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation, who may not be re-elected for the immediate subsequent period.
.
Yesterday, the president indicated that she consulted with retired minister Arturo Zaldívar; with the legal advisor of the Presidency, Ernestina Godoy, as well as with deputies and senators, and they told her that the reform is valid, despite the correction that will be made.
He offered that this Thursday, Zaldívar and Godoy could explain in the morning why the reform is valid and also if any subsequent modification is required
.
But, he noted, the correction does not imply any invalidity of the (judicial) reform itself or the election of judges
magistrates and ministers just as it is
.
Regarding the meeting yesterday between the head of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation, Minister Norma Piña, and the president of the Senate board of directors, Gerardo Fernández Noroña, he stated: I found out about that meeting through the networks. I don’t know what was discussed there, it was a decision of the president of the Senate
.
What is important for citizens to know, he added, is that the reform of the Judiciary is going. I have no knowledge of what they discussed, why they met.
