Until 9:00 this Thursday, October 10, the Air Pollution Index (AQI) in several regions of the country has improved and the population is breathing air, between regular and good. This is confirmed by the report from the Ministry of the Environment.
Only three regions report poor air quality, these are: Cobija, where the ICA is 127; Peace, 108; and Potosí, 116. While in El Alto, Trinidad, Santa Cruz, Cochabamba, Quillacollo and Sucre you breathe regular air. In regions like Oruro and Tarija, the air quality is good.
In the city of Santa Cruz, thanks to the rain, the AQI remains regular, since the index reached at 9:00 today, Thursday, is 95.
Fires in the country
According to the daily report, Bolivia until Wednesday, October 9, had 70 active fires distributed in 5 departments, which affect 30 municipalities.
The departments are: Santa Cruz, Beni, Chuquisaca, Cochabamba and La Paz. While the majority of the affected municipalities (22 of the 30) They are in Santa Cruz, in the Chiquitania area.
Among the protected areas with active fire are the Noel Kempff Mercado National Park, Anmi San Matías, Otuquis, Serranías del Iñao, TCO Pailón Lajas and Madidi.
In Pando
The Government of Pando approved Decree 010/2024 that declares a situation of departmental disaster due to the magnitude of forest fires, drought and air pollution. This was confirmed by the Prensa Digital media.
The governor of this department, Regis Richter, indicated that “This decision responds to the urgency of protecting our environment, our flora, our fauna and, above all, the life and health of our people.””.
