The first phase of the Health City of the Social Security Fund (CSS), which includes the Cardiovascular and Thoracic Institute, the Blood Bank, the industrial plant and the cold kitchen, has a delivery date for next July 12 .
This was reported by the administrator of the City of Health Project by the CSS, Rogelio Robles, who explained that the work is progressing at a good pace, with some 800 workers.
Robles maintained that the Hospital Construction Consortium [integrado por Constructora Rigaservices S.A., Administración de Proyectos de Construcción, S.A. y Construction Management Group, S.A.] works on the different stages of the project to deliver on the established dates.
The works in the City of Health were reactivated on November 15, 2021, after the CSS finalized the contract with the Spanish construction company Fomento de Construcciones y Contratas (FCC) and reached a transnational agreement.
The project was marked by delays, changes in the design and scope of the work, in addition to the claim for more money by the Spanish construction company.
The director of the CSS, Enrique Lau Cortés, affirmed that they are following up weekly on the evolution of all the processes of the City of Health, in response to a study carried out to determine why the projects in the entity remain unfinished, which determined that the cause is precisely the lack of supervision and follow-up.
He recalled that the delivery date of the City of Health is scheduled for December 16, 2023.
The work, located in the district of Ancón, was awarded in 2012 to FCC for an amount of $554.2 million and will end up costing $999.8 million.
