The Governments of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the Islamic Republic of Iran consolidate alliances of mutual benefit, with the aim of strengthening the shared cause in support of the peoples of the Middle East in their fight for self-determination, reported Foreign Minister Yván Gil in his digital networks.
Gil, who held a meeting with the Iranian ambassador to Venezuela, Hojjatolah Soltani, to reaffirm the unbreakable friendship between the two nations, reviewed the bilateral agenda, which is increasingly consolidated as “the people of the Global South “unite in alliances” of shared benefit.
Venezuela and Iran maintain close bilateral relations, under the principle of complementarity for joint development, which – since June 11, 2022 – exhibit a higher level in the context of the 20-year cooperation agreement, signed between President Nicolás Maduro and the then deceased Iranian president, Seyed Ebrahim Raisiy, which includes sectors of tourism, food, defense, oil, gas, petrochemicals, science and technology, health, culture and transportation.
It is worth remembering that, in the first years of the beginning of the 21st century, there was a rapprochement between Iran and Venezuela, especially after the coincidence in power of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Hugo Chávez.
