This Wednesday, the President Gustavo Petro and the mayor of Bogotá, Carlos Fernando Galánthey met at the Nariño House to talk about the water crisis facing the country’s capital. This meeting was to define the strategies to follow.

Faced with the crisis, they have considered how to take advantage of the city’s underground aquifers, greater preservation of the wastelands, among other initiatives. On the other hand, the president has insisted that this issue will not be a simple situation, but a new reality in the capital and has even blamed the growing urbanization of the country’s capital to a large extent. One of the solutions that has been given is that Bogotá committed to the reforestation of the Amazon.

As for the participants in this Wednesday’s meeting, on the Government side they accompanied the head of state Minister of the Environment, Susana Muhamad; the director of the UNGRD, Carlos Carrilloamong other executive officials.

On the part of Mayor Galán is the Secretary of the Environment, Adriana Soto, the Acueducto manager, Natasha Avendaño; the director of CAR Cundinamarca, Luis Fernando Sanabria; among other officials. All of them have been focused on addressing the environmental crisis that the city faces due to water supply.
