The National Institute of Social Security (INSS) will anticipate the payment of social security and assistance benefits to residents of cities affected by the heavy rains of recent days, which had the state of public calamity recognized by the federal government.
An ordinance with this objective is published in the Official Diary of the Union this Wednesday (23) and applies to the municipalities of Petrópolis (RJ), Canapi (AL) and Teresina de Goiás (GO).
According to the Ordinance 1420/2022signed by the president of the INSS, José Carlos Oliveira, the regular payment of social security and assistance benefits administered by the INSS will be brought forward to the first working day of the schedule, as of March 2022 and for as long as the situation lasts.
The measure also provides for an advance in the amount corresponding to a monthly income from the social security or assistance benefit to which the person is entitled. This other anticipation is an option for policyholders.
The advance amount must be reimbursed in up to 36 fixed monthly installments, starting in the third month following the advance, by deducting the benefit income, without any cost or correction. Those with temporary benefits will not be able to receive this advance.
The INSS announced that it already has teams working to identify cases of residents of these locations. The idea is that these processes are separated so that the analysis is done more quickly.
The rule published today also provides that if the beneficiary is not included in the list issued by the INSS to the paying banking units, he may apply for the advance at any Social Security agency.
“After formalized by the interested party, the financial institution will immediately release the credit, except if carried out in a banking correspondent, in which case the release must occur within five working days”, says an excerpt from the ordinance.
