The Cicpc reported on the capture of Franyelin Ortiz (25), identified as the material and intellectual author of the homicide perpetrated against the social communicator Mercedes Herrera Rodríguez (40).
Mercedes’ body was located on October 3 inside her residence located on San Juan Bosco Avenue, Chacao (Miranda) in an advanced state of decomposition.
According to the scientific police report, Mercedes was reported as a missing person by her cousin, who went to her home; He entered it, noticing that there were personal documents, but not his two phones, presuming that he had gone up to El Ávila Hill to exercise.
After the complaint, the Cicpc commissions went to the house and found her lifeless, in a state of decomposition and tied up. After that, the officials carried out investigations into the incident and managed to arrest Franyelin Ortiz (25), the victim’s service employee, the mastermind and material author of the incident.

Franyelin went to the victim’s home to do her household chores; However, he had coordinated with his partner, Neiquel Gutiérrez (30), yet to be arrested; strip her of valuable items, so on the day of the incident, due to Mercedes’ carelessness, she allowed Neiquel to enter, who subdued her by the neck and took her to the room where they tied her hands and feet and left her in the interior of a dressing room.
Then they search the property, seizing several valuable items, clothing and a thousand dollars in cash, says the scientific police report.
After the incident was committed, the couple waited several hours to flee the scene and before leaving, they chose to kill the woman, taking a plastic bag and tying it over her head until she died.
The murderers fled with the victim’s belongings, including their cell phones, in order to mislead the authorities, leaving them abandoned in a public transport unit that covers the Plaza Venezuela – Petare route.
