SANTO DOMINGO.- The Public Ministry completed this afternoon the presentation of the charges against those charged in the Camaleón case, before the judge of the Permanent Attention Office of the National District, Fatima Veloz.
After the accusing body concluded with the reading of the list of events, the bar of lawyers of the former Intrant minister, Hugo Beras, began to present the defense arguments of their client in relation to the accusations made against him by the Public Ministry.
After Beras, the defense of Vinicio Padovani Báez, former head of the INTRANT Traffic Control Center; then the lawyers of Frank Diaz Warden, former Dispatch Coordinator and representative of Beras before the INTRAN Purchasing Committee; dThen comes the defense Jochi Gómez, owner of the company Aurix SAS; will continue Juan Francisco Álvarez Carbuccia, administrative and financial director of INTRANT; then continue Samuel Gregorio Baquero Sepúlveda, former technology director of INTRANT and the last one will be the defense Carlos José Peguero.
The Public Ministry began after 4:00 in the afternoon and ended at 5:52 p.m.
The Public Ministry requests preventive detention for those involved and that the case be declared complex.
During Operation Chameleon, residences and companies were raided in the National District, Santo Domingo Este, San Cristóbal and Punta Cana. Approximately 170 members of the National Police, Special Units and more than 30 specialized prosecutors against organized crime participated in this operation.
The Public Ministry indicated that hundreds of pieces of evidence were seized in the raids that confirm the accusations.
“The request for a measure of coercion has sufficient elements for the court to accept the request of the Public Ministry regarding the measure of coercion to be imposed and the declaration of complexity of the process,” indicated the MP.
