The lawyers of the famous American rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs have requested this Tuesday from the Second Circuit of Appeals of the United States that the artist be released on bail prior to his trial, after a judge denied him the benefit and kept in custody.

The appeal challenges the decision made by Judge Andrew Carter, who is handling the case, siding with federal prosecutors who argued that Combs is a danger to the community and poses a flight risk, so he should remain in jail. .

“Long before his formal accusation, Mr. Combs took numerous steps to demonstrate his reliability and his commitment to proving his innocence in this case,” Combs’ lawyers argue in their appeal in court documents to which EFE had access.

This is the third request by lawyers to obtain bail for the famous rapper, who has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Combs is currently jailed and awaiting a criminal trial, after being arrested in early September and charged with conspiracy to commit racketeering and sex trafficking, among other crimes.

Lawyers had previously asked Judge Carter to release the rapper on $50 million bail and place him on house arrest and impose limits on visitation, but he has refused.

Carter argued that one of his biggest concerns was allegations that Combs had attempted to tamper with witnesses who had been contacted by prosecutors as part of the investigation.

In Tuesday’s request, the lawyers insisted that there was no evidence that the rapper had tried to interfere in the criminal investigation into his conduct.

Combs is being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York, where he shares space with FTX co-founder Sam Bankman-Fried.

The 54-year-old singer, who was being investigated for human trafficking and sexual abuse, was arrested on September 16 in New York and after the first hearing, the judge determined that he should continue in prison.

His arrest occurred after having received ten complaints of sexual abuse and rape from various women in the last year, complaints whose number has been growing.
