Federal government will send special forces to Sinaloa to contain violence

A special forces company will also be deployed in Sinaloa that will operate in order to reduce intentional homicides.

The Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection will reinforce ”intelligence and investigation actions with the integration of work cells and multidisciplinary teams”.

Harfuch meeting with Rocha

Members of the security cabinet of the federal government met this afternoon in Sinaloa with Governor Rubén Rocha Moya, to review the situation of violence in the State and define joint actions.

At 2:00 p.m. (central Mexico time), the secretaries of Citizen Protection Security, Omar García Harfuch, and of National Defense, General Ricardo Trevilla Trejo, arrived in Culiacán, Sinaloa.

As Harfuch announced in the morning conference, the officials held a working table with the governor, in the midst of the wave of violence in Sinaloa due to the dispute between factions of the Sinaloa Cartel.

The officials, together with the governor, supervised coordinated security actions and conducted tours of the city.
