Santo Domingo.-Other Government officials will be called to testify to explain their responsibilities with the contract with the company Transcord Latam which had as its purpose the improvement of the traffic light network of Greater Santo Domingo, according to the lawyer Luis Rivas who represents the former director of the National Institute of Traffic and Land Transportation (Intrant), Hugo Beras.
He cited that one of the officials who should be in the file is the director of Public Contracting, Carlos Pimentel, who after having approved the contract, months later proceeded to annul it and never communicated the measure to his client.
While at the hearing, the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for the Prosecution of Administrative Corruption (Pepca), represented by Wilson Camacho, requested 18 months of preventive detention for the accused in the case and that it be declared complex when presenting conclusions to the judge of the Permanent Attention Office of the National District represented by Fátima Veloz.

The coercive measure hearing began at 2:00 in the afternoon and in addition to Beras, former director of Intrant, the coordinator of the Office and representative on the Purchasing Committee, Frank Díaz, are being prosecuted; former Director of Technology, José Gregorio Vaquero; the owner of the company, José Ángel Gómez Canaán (Jochi); the person in charge of the Traffic Control Center, Pedro Vinicio Padovani, and the former Administrative and Financial Manager of Intrant, Juan Francisco Álvarez Carbuccia and Carlos José Peguero Vargas, respectively.
The defendants have been under arrest since the 3rd of this month after Pepca arrested them and transferred them to the so-called small prison of the Ciudad Nueva Prosecutor’s Office.
