Héctor Becerril leaves Fujimorism and joins the ranks of Alliance for Progress

Héctor Becerril.

After 14 years in Fujimorism, the former congressman Hector Becerril He put on the shirt of the Alliance for Progress (APP), César Acuña’s party.

According to El Comercio, Becerril submitted his resignation to Fuerza Popular on July 5. Only six days later, you would enter your APP membership form, one day before the deadline for those who want to participate in the next 2026 general elections.

The current general secretary, Luis Valdez, spoke with the aforementioned newspaper and ruled out that Becerril’s incorporation had occurred at the invitation of the party, and stated that his participation in the next elections was not assured.

“It is not within the plans to assume a candidacy. As a new supporter, he will try to gain space, which does not mean he can get it. In Lambayeque, APP has bases, so it will be difficult for it to assume or achieve leadership, since we have consolidated bases. Despite this, APP is open doors,” Valdez told El Comercio.

Becerril has not provided statements in this regard.
