Senate approves Gabriel Galípolo for presidency of the Central Bank

The Senate approved this Tuesday (8) the nomination of economist Gabriel Galípolo to be president of the Central Bank of Brazil between 2025 and 2028. Galípolo was approved by 66 votes in favor and 5 against. The vote was secret. He is expected to take up the post on January 1st.Senate approves Gabriel Galípolo for presidency of the Central Bank

Current director of Monetary Policy at the BC, Gabriel Muricca Galípolo was appointed by the President of the Republic, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, to replace the current president of the authority, Roberto Campos Neto.

In the morning, Galípolo was unanimously approved by the Economic Affairs Committee (CAE)after four hours of hearing.
