The mayor assured in conversation with T13 that to the extent, “I see it totally legal, totally. What Chile is doing, very well so that illegal immigrants do not enter,” stressed the authority.
Currently, it should be noted that in the provinces of Arica, Parinacota, Tamarugal and El Loa, there is a State of Exception that allows the Armed Forces to assist the police in carrying out migration tasks.
In turn, in the midst of the migration crisis, the Ministry of the Interior authorized the use of heavy machinery to widen the border ditches between Chile and Bolivia, which are located in the Colchane commune.
Given this, the Minister of the Interior, Rodrigo Delgado, specified, at a press point yesterday, that it is, in fact, “the maintenance of a ditch that is just over 100 meters long and has existed for several years”, since Over time, “people who engage in smuggling or clandestine income have been able to put certain bridges, infrastructure to pass more comfortably.”
