The Senate’s Economic Affairs Committee (CAE) unanimously approved this Tuesday (8), the appointment of Gabriel Galípolo as president of the Central Bank. There were 26 votes in favor and none against.
The nomination of the President of the Republic, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, now goes to the plenary, as a matter of urgency, and should be considered this afternoon.
If approved by the Senate, Galípolo will take over from Roberto Campos Neto from January 1, 2025, with a mandate until the end of 2028.
Lula’s nominee is the current director of Monetary Policy at the Central Bank.
