Swarm Book Fair arrives in Santa Cruz in March

In Santa Cruz it will finally be possible to hold the event called the Swarm of Books Independent Publishing and Printing Fair. It will be from Wednesday, March 16 to Sunday, March 20 and will take place at the Center for Plurinational Culture (Rene Moreno #369). Admission will be free and free.

during the fair workshops on creative writing, environmental journalism, illustration, Guarani history, illustration for children, lesbian poetry and sexual dissidence that will be in charge of Mariana Lardone, Chris Egüez, Elías Caurey, Daniela Rico, Jimena Mercado, Joan Villanueva, Ross Amils and Varieté theater, among others.

Also, there will be stand-up shows every daystarring various artists from Santa Cruz.

The fair has the participation of 40 independent publishers, bookstores, illustrators and authors. The organization is in charge of La Libre editorial bookstore, Sobras Selectas editorial, El Bagallero Ilustrado bookstore, La Viñeteca bookstore, Dum Dum Editora, Mantis Narrativa, El Cuervo publishing house, ClubCinco Editores, Pseudogente and the cultural manager Isabel Collazos.

The first version of Swarm of Books was held in November 2021 in La Paz and Cochabamba with very positive results.

“We want to propose alternative spaces for emerging publishing projects and we also seek to integrate a very important part of the book industry, such as illustration and design,” says Virginia Gallardo, from ClubCinco Editores, who remarked that Illustrators such as Merlina Annunaki, Jorge Catacora, The Pencil Hall collective and Valerie Monic, to name a few, will participate in the fair.

Among the publishers, several with a long history participate, such as Plural, 3600, Mujeres Creando or Yerba Mala Cartonera, and more recent projects such as Heterodoxy, Loko El Gato, Tufillo de poeta and A Ediciones.

The discussion tables, workshops and conferences will be face-to-face. Those interested in participating in the workshops can register online through the digital portals of the “Enjambre de Libros” fair.

The fair is sponsored by the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID)from the Spanish Cooperation Training Center in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, the Cultural Revolution Center dependent on the Central Bank of Bolivia, French Alliance, Fonplata, Chavez Pharmacies, Rural Electrification Cooperative (CRE) and Renault, and with the support of Kipus, Vinos Ramallo and Vinos 1750.

The literary event will be open from 3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily.
Enjambre de Libros constitutes a community committed to the dissemination of novelties and alternatives present in the local, national and international literary scene and proposes new options in terms of book formats and prices.
