Debates on reform of the Magna Carta will continue this Tuesday

Santo Domingo.- The members of the National Review Assembly will continue this Tuesday, at 10:00 am, the debates with a view to achieving a reform of the Constitutionafter more than five hours analyzing the different articles that would be modified.

The president of the Senate, Ricardo de los Santos, summoned the assembly members to continue deliberations on the changes that would be made to the Magna Carta.

The call to the Review Assembly is promoted by President Luis Abinader, who considers the reform of nine articles of the Constitution “necessary.”

Among the points considered for modification are those related to the unification of elections, the reduction of the number of deputies, and independence in the selection of the head of the Attorney General’s Office.

Representatives of the opposition argued that it is not necessary to modify the article related to the appointment of the attorney, considering that “it is not necessary.”

It had been almost a decade since the National Review Assembly had met.
