The Spanish Parliament approved the proposal of the conservatives of the Popular Party (PP) that Pedro Sánchez promote Venezuelan democracy before the European Union. They ask to defend the people of Maduro
The Spanish Parliament asked the government of Pedro Sánchez to promote before the European Union (EU) the formation of the “democratic regime” in Venezuela.
The proposal was approved this Monday, October 7, as reported EFE, and part of the situation generated in the country after the presidential elections of July 28.
Parliament debated the approach at the request of the conservatives of the Popular Party (PP) and it was approved by a majority of members of the Joint Congress-Senate Commission for the EU.
They also ask to “defend the Venezuelan people from Nicolás Maduro”, winner of the elections according to data offered by the CNE and certified by the TSJ.

This Monday, Belén Hoyo, representative of the PP in Parliament, reproached the ruling Socialist Party for “hesitating” whether or not to recognize the victory of Edmundo González Urrutia.
According to Vicente Montávez Aguillaume, socialist representative before Parliament, “unilateral” recognitions do not lead to effective solutions. He argued that the Executive, led by Pedro Sánchez, “has acted firmly and with commitment” in the defense of human rights.
José María Sánchez, representative of Vox, insisted that Spain must recognize Edmundo González Urrutia and must encourage the EU to do so.
On September 11, the plenary session of Congress urged the government to recognize Edmundo González Urrutia, presidential candidate of the Democratic Platform and currently asylum in Spain, as legitimate president of Venezuela, also then at the request of the Spanish right.
