MIAMI, United States. – Cuban reggaeton player José Manuel Carvajal, known artistically as El Taiger, began to show “small progress” in his recovery, according to his manager, Marcel Reinosa, during an interview with the communicator Enrique Santos this Monday, October 7.
Reinosa explained that one of the most significant advances is that the artist’s kidneys have begun to work again, and his body has begun to regulate its temperature on its own. “It’s very good that his body is starting to react on its own,” said the manager, who also highlighted that El Taiger is not brain dead, which offers “one hundred percent hope” for his recovery.
Although the outlook remains “delicate,” Reinosa explained that the fact that El Taiger’s body has begun to react after several hours without improvement is an important step. “During the last 72 hours there had been no [avance] until last night, when his body began to react,” he commented.
The manager also indicated that the inflammatory process in the singer’s brain has not yet ended, which prevents doctors from being able to determine his long-term prognosis with certainty. “Until the inflammation ends, nothing can be determined,” he said.
In general sense, Reinosa assured that the progress reported by the doctors gives all the followers of El Taiger “faith to continue in the fight.”
Taiger was found last Thursday, October 3, in the back of an SUV, with a gunshot wound to the forehead. The Police of Miami reported that the vehicle had been found just a few blocks from the hospital, suggesting that someone attempted to bring it closer to the first aid facility, but abandoned it before arriving.
“They found his body in the trunk of the car and apparently someone was driving. “They tried, I guess they tried to take him to the hospital, but they didn’t and they just left him a couple of blocks from Jackson,” Reinosa detailed in a previous interview.
The shot that El Taiger received entered through the front of his head and exited through the right side. Despite the severity of the injury, Reinosa explained that the brain damage has been limited: “They shot him in the front of the head and it came out the side on the right side, it did not affect the left side, only the right. The part of the brain that recognizes people and memory is intact until now, it is still a miracle that it has survived, that it is alive.”
Last week, Miami Police said they were carrying out an investigation into the incident, which was being treated as an attempted homicide. According to El Taiger’s manager, the Police already have a person of interest under observation, but so far no charges have been filed.
Initially, doctors at Jackson Memorial Hospital indicated that El Taiger’s condition is delicate. “The prognosis is to wait, we have to wait, it is a waiting game right now, no one can predict because the last thing that is lost is faith,” said Reinosa.
The news has caused a great impact among El Taiger’s friends and followers, who gathered outside the hospital to show their support and pray for his recovery. They have also met in different cities on the Island.
