Raquel Peña delivers works in the south valued at more than RD$220 MM

San Juan.- The vice president of the Republic, Raquel Penadelivered this Sunday a series of important works in the areas of education, health and sports, intended to benefit communities in the south of the country, with an investment that exceeds RD$ 220 million.

Renovation of the Vicente Noble Hospital

The tour began in the province of Barahona, where Peña began the renovation and expansion work of the Vicente Noble Municipal Hospital, a work with an investment of RD$ 134,166,654.

This project will benefit more than 25,000 inhabitants of the communities of Vicente Noble, Bombita, Fondo Negro, Arroyo Grande, Quita Coraza and Canoa.

“We are ensuring that community members no longer have to travel long distances to receive the medical care they deserve,” declared Peña, underscoring the importance of modernizing health services in the region.

He National Health Service (SNS), represented by its director Mario Lama, highlighted that this investment is crucial to improve medical care and adds to other initiatives in the south, such as the construction of the first maternal and child hospital in Barahona and a trauma hospital in Azua.

Investment in Health

Of the total investment, RD$ 26.5 million will be allocated to hospital equipment, RD$ 75.4 million to renovation and RD$ 32.1 million to the expansion of the emergency room, which will significantly improve health services in this area.

Educational Center in El Cercado

Subsequently, the vice president moved to San Juan, where she inaugurated the Desiderio Morillo Méndez Educational Center, in the municipal district of Batista, El Cercado. With an investment of RD$ 59,322,363, this middle-level school, equipped with eight classrooms, laboratories, a library, a court and recreational areas, will benefit 280 students.

“Our goal is to offer young people the necessary tools so that they can succeed and turn this municipality into a benchmark for development,” said Peña during the delivery of the school, which also has a multipurpose room, infirmary, kitchen and spaces for teacher planning.

Baseball Field in El Cercado

In addition to the health and education works, Raquel Peña inaugurated the Batista baseball field, with an area of ​​4,500 square meters, stands, bathrooms and perimeter fence. This sports infrastructure, built with an investment of RD$ 29,621,170, is designed to encourage sports participation among young people in the community.

“This is the scenario where our young people will be able to dream and aspire to follow in the footsteps of baseball figures like Gerson Bautista or Jean Segura, natives of San Juan,” said the vice president. The field will benefit 2,000 children and adolescents, promoting sports in the region.

With these investments, the Government reaffirms its commitment to improving the quality of life in southern communities, focusing on infrastructure that strengthens access to basic services and promotes the comprehensive development of the population.
