La Libertad: Moche Ambulance has been in a workshop for two months

A serious complaint was made yesterday by the councilor of the District Municipality of Moche (MDM), Henry Sachún Castro, when he revealed that an ambulance purchased and donated by the to the Santa Lucía health center has been in a workshop for two months without being able to be repaired, because, presumably, it would not have the current warranty.

According to what was specified by the councilor, the vehicle unit was delivered by the Region on August 13, 2023, in a public ceremony that was attended by the governor of the Regional Government of La Libertad, César Acuña Peralta, and the general manager , Martín Namay Valderrama.

“However, as the head of the Moche health center told us, a week after receiving the ambulance it began to have problems. The changes did not evolve, white smoke was coming out that flooded the cabin, and the siren and circulina did not work. So, I asked him what they have given us, why such rapid deterioration. Unfortunately, that is how they have been working”said the councilor.

It doesn’t matter anymore

However, the damage to the ambulance continued, becoming more and more serious, to the point that it was already a risk to transport patients. That is why two months ago the vehicle unit had to be taken to a workshop. “Now it doesn’t work, it’s completely broken. In my inspection role I have gone to that Divemotor-Trujillo workshop and there I was surprised that not only the Moche ambulance was there, but ambulances from other districts. When talking to one of the local officials, she told me that they could not maintain the ambulances because they do not have a warranty. I wonder how that can happen, if when you buy a new car the warranty is for at least two years.”pointed out the councilor.

What’s more, he questioned that the vehicles are in that place “closed together” and no official from the Region has come out to say anything about it. I ask Mr. César Acuña and Martín Namay, is this how they deal with the health issue in the region? “This is scandalous,” the councilor described.

In that sense, he announced that tomorrow a letter will be sent to the Comptroller’s Office and the Prosecutor’s Office to investigate this case.

Provisional

To save the situation and prevent Moche from being left without an ambulance, an old unit was transferred from the Poroto district.

Correo contacted the head of Geresa, Ánibal Morillo Arqueros, and in this regard he said that he was unaware of the issue and that it is the Trujillo Health Network that must respond to this matter.

Minutes later, Morillo contacted us and, in fact, confirmed that the ambulance suffered damage, which is why it was hospitalized for maintenance 15 days ago and that they are awaiting delivery. “The warranty is in force”, he stated.

Likewise, he accepted that there are other ambulances in the aforementioned workshop and, as councilor Henry Sachún said, they belong to health centers in other provinces.
