The beneficiary is the spouse or cohabitant, child under 18 years of age, or of legal age who continues uninterruptedly with basic or higher education, as well as those who are disabled. The member’s parents are also on the list (father over 60 years of age and mother over 55 years of age unless they are declared incapacitated, which eliminates the age requirement).

According to the Superintendency of Banking, Insurance and AFP (SBS), the pension is based on the average of the last 48 remunerations and can vary between 42% and 70%, depending on the coverage ranging from total and permanent disability. up to the survivor’s pension.

Those who wish to access this pension must present the death certificate, the autopsy medical certificate, a simple copy of the documents that prove the remuneration included in the 48 months prior to the month in which the death occurred, a police report in case of accidental death and the documents that prove the status of beneficiary, as the case may be. All these papers must be delivered to the company that administers the pensions.

What happens if I don’t have beneficiaries? In this case, the heirs considered in the “declaration of heirs”, intestate succession or will registered in Public Registries, can request the return of the fund as an inheritance.

People who decide to access this benefit have access to the entire accumulated balance in a single installment. They must also submit the application to the AFP.

DATA

To access the survivor’s pension it is necessary that the deceased has not taken advantage of the withdrawal of 95.5% of the fund.

If there are no heirs or beneficiaries, the AAFP specified that the AFPs lack the power to dispose of or redirect the deceased’s fund, so the amounts remain in their accounts.
