Colombia Patientsa movement that brings together 198 organizations of users of the national health service throughout the country, filed a guardianship action against the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of the Interior and Commission VIII of the House of Representativesto request the suspension of the technical table in which the health reform project is being discussed until the movement’s participation in said space is guaranteed.
The table, which was installed this Tuesday in Congress, and whose purpose is to listen to various voices from the sector before beginning the discussion of the reform, The participants were the Minister of Health, Guillermo Alfonso Jaramillo, as well as the Director of Adres and the Superintendent of Health. Academic voices such as the Colombian Association of Scientific Societies (ACSC) and unions such as the Colombian Association of Hospitals and Clinics (ACHC) have also been included..

However, patients say they have not been listened to. Since last September 27, the movement has requested Congress to include it in the technical tables; nevertheless, Both Colombian patients and the 198 organizations they group together would have been excluded.
“The working table for health system reform is a fundamental space to analyze its implications. The unjustified exclusion of certain actors or vulnerable sectors of the population constitutes a violation of the right to participate in public decisions that directly affect our right to health.“, he stated Denis Silva, spokesperson for Patients Colombia.
