The massive deportations of undocumented Haitians by the Dominican Republic are due to the ineffectiveness of the peace force deployed in that country to combat the turbulent crisis in all its sectors, stated the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Roberto Álvarez.

“As the statement approved yesterday says, these are measures to strengthen those that have been taken for some time now, because the multinational force supporting the Haitian police has not achieved effectiveness until now,” he pointed out. the chancellor

He added that the measure responds to the desire of the Dominican Government to control the uncontrolled entry of said illegals.

Álvarez took advantage of the questions from the press to reiterate his rejection of the accusations of the former President of the Republic, Leonel Fernández that immigration institutions have granted more than 400 thousand tourist visas even with the consulates closed.

“Today at 4 in the afternoon we will offer a press conference, where we will demonstrate why this complaint is a falsehood,” the official said after participating in the Summit for Tourism between Africa and the Americas.
