The agreement 10 by the National Learning Service (Sena)where they announce the new list of occupations that are counted for the hiring of apprentices of the entity attached to the Ministry of Labor, has caused controversy on social networks.

The reason, the list of jobs bothered more than one when they began to see that occupations appeared, as an astrologer, fortune teller, clothing dealer, webcam model, gigolo, tamers, tarot reader, poetry therapist, dance partner, nightclub companion, psychic, gentleman and companion, etc.

What does the Sena respond to the controversy?

Through a statement, the Sena clarified that the occupations on the list are not “training courses that are part of the Sena’s program offering.”

As explained by the entity attached to the Ministry of Labor, the controversial list is consulted by companies to hire Sena apprentices, in accordance with the functions of each of them: “The World Labor Organization (ILO) adopted the International Standard Classification of Occupations (ISCO) in 1957, which was later revised and updated in 1968, 1988 and 2008.

In turn, he indicated that “Colombia ratified the international ILO conventions related to the classification of occupations, such as Convention 111 on Discrimination in Employment and Occupation, which seeks to promote equal opportunities in this regard and protect workers.” workers against discrimination.

Therefore, the Sena adapted the Unique Classification of Occupations for Colombia (CUOC) as a reference for the identification and use of occupations in the Colombian labor market, based on the adaptation carried out by the Dane (National Administrative Department of Statistics) in the CIUO and the ILO.

In short, the director of the Sena, Jorge Londoño, in dialogue with Caracol Radio, delved into the issue and said that undoubtedly “there are not going to be companies in Colombia, for example, for lion taming… there are not going to be companies of that type . So obviously, they are not going to have to hire apprentices. A lion taming company in Colombia that pays benefits that pays Social Security that has more than 15 employees will have to hire apprentices, so obviously it is not going to happen.
