Fernando Pereira: “We want to remove a government that has stagnated Uruguayans”

Fernando Pereira: "We want to remove a government that has stagnated Uruguayans"

Pereira indicated that the current government “has disappointed with campaign failures” and that “it has flattened the country,” leaving many people with little hope of improving their situation. In addition, he made reference to “a government with a lot of turbidity”, specifically pointing out the cases of the port, the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of Housing, the tearing of Marset’s passport, the attempt to cover up sexual crimes against minors by Senator Gustavo Penadés , and irregularities in Artigas linked to overtime during licenses.

Pereira also criticized the government’s economic performance, stating that “95% of households have less purchasing power than in 2019” and cited a study by the Institute of Economics that supports this statement. Likewise, he highlighted that “64% of people do not make ends meet” and mentioned that workers “lost between 45 and 60 wages in the first three years of government, which they will never recover.”

Regarding the final stage of the campaign, Pereira announced that the Frente Amplio will present “the only government program” that will be on the table, while criticizing the lack of compliance with the program agreed upon by the ruling coalition, describing it as a “small document” that was not carried out.

To culminate the campaign, he announced that one of “the most important door-to-door raids in the history of the Frente Amplio” will be held on October 13, with activities planned throughout the country.
