The project of Train Alameda-Melipilla has taken a decisive step towards its completion with the recent tender for underground works. This section, which runs from Estación Central to Lo Errázuriz in Cerrillos, represents an investment of US$200 million and is one of the most important phases of the railway project.
The State Railway Company (EFE) has indicated that this work will not only improve connectivity in the Metropolitan Region, but will also be key to decongesting other public transport routes.
