Mothers denounce beatings against teenagers detained at Caraballeda checkpoint

Eight teenagers accused of terrorism are detained in the Preventive Detention Center for Adolescents and Women located in the Caraballeda Detention Center. Relatives report that they were prohibited from visiting on October 3 and that they were also beaten


Relatives of adolescents detained in the Preventive Detention Center for Adolescents and Females located in the Caraballeda Detention Center, La Guaira state, reported this Thursday, October 3, that the adolescents were beaten inside the facility.

«There are eight minors there, today they did not let us receive visitors and that was torture for our children, because what they received was beatings. “I ask you to help us, this is too much, they throw away their food and hit them whenever they want,” denounced in an audio recording the mother of one of the detainees, who preferred to reserve her name for fear of reprisals.

In a three-minute audio, you can hear how relatives exchange messages with the teenagers and some manage to ask for help amidst the screams. The mothers of the teenagers accused of terrorism claim that they could hear the beatings they were receiving.


According to data from the organization Foro Penal To date there are 68 adolescents detained in the countryafter the post-election protests of July 28.
